The NOAA 2 satellite has observed the occurrence of relatively isotropic fluxes of ?0.27-MeV protons in the evening sector of the polar caps on over 90 passes during the period December 1972 through December 1973. These protons have been observed at intensities of >105 (cm2 s sr MeV)1 with power law spectral indices in the range of -5 to -7. Their similarity of characteristics and occurrence identify them with corresponding impulsive proton bursts occurring in the dusk magnetotail reported by others.
