By subtracting the H values at a location (Sabhawala) near the Sq focus from the H values at a low-latitude station (Alibag) in the Indian longitudes, the Sq pattern at the low-latitude station is obtained for a continuous period of quiet and disturbed days in February and May 1967. It is shown that the pattern is invariably a near-noon maximum with amplitudes showing large day-to-day variability in quiet days as well as disturbed days. Thus geomagnetic storms have no specific effect on the pattern of the Sq current system. |
