Kirchhoff, V.W.J. and Clemesha, B.R. (1983). Eddy diffusion coefficients in the lower thermosphere. Journal of Geophysical Research 88: doi: 10.1029/JA088iA07p05765. issn: 0148-0227.

The seasonal variation of the eddy diffusion coefficient is deduced for a height of 94 km at 23¿ on the basis of two independent methods of analysis. One of these methods, already used to past, is related to indirect measurements of atomic oxygen, and other one is a new method related to measurements of the density of upper atmospheric sodium. The results are mutually consistent, giving a maximum eddy diffusion ion coefficient during summer.
