The solar flux at 220¿5 nm has been measured from a balloon near 40 km in September of 1975, 1976, and 1977. The average value of the unattenuated flux corrected to 1 AU is 4.43¿1012 photons/(cm2 s nm) for near solar minimum conditions. Comparison with other measurements suggests that the solar flux at 220¿5 nm vary by as much as 25% over a solar sunspot cycle. This conclusion is strongly dependent on a few points and is not inconsistent with a variation below 10%. |
