Temperatures of the mesopause region (85--90 km) have been deduced from OH (8--3) molecular band night airglow emission measurements made at Poker Flat (65 ¿N), Alaska. The data cover the first 4 months of each of the years 1976, 1977, and 1978. Mean monthly temperatures of 229, 224, 213 and 193 K were obtained with no significant yearly differences. The mean temperature for each month is about 15 K higher than the respective monthly temperatures in the 85 and 90 km, 60¿ and 70 ¿N, CIRA (1972) model, and it follows the general decreasing trend shown by the model. |
