Stimulated scattering mechanisms involving electromagnetic and acoustic waves in a partially ionized plasma are considered. The growth rates and thresholds for three-wave decay interactions as well as modulation instabilities are obtained. The relevance of our investigation to the nonlinear propagation of powerful radio waves through the upper atmosphere is pointed out. |
