Calculations are carried out of the rate coefficient for the radiative association of ground state nitrogen oxygen atoms to form nitric oxide as a function of the temperature T. The rate coefficient is given by &agr;(T)=2.8(300/T)0.5¿10-17 cm3 s-1. Detailed predictions are presented for the emission spectra accompanying the radiative association process.
