The scattering mean free paths of solar flare protons in the rigidity ranges 195--396 MV (20--80 MeV) and from about 1.5 to 5 GV for the May 7, 1978, solar cosmic ray event were found to be 1.7¿0.1 Au and 3.9¿0.4 Au, respectively. These scattering mean free paths are compared with those deduced for other scatter-free solar cosmic ray events. The rigidity dependence of &lgr;11 can be described by &lgr;[AU>=2.0(P[GV>)0.4 for 0.1 |
