A helium survey in the area of the oil-bearing structure of Eldingen (NW Germany) was carried out in 1984 and 1985. In the survey area of approximately 70 km2, 196 overburden samples were collected from 15 to 25 m depth. The measured helium concentrations were corrected by using 15 additional field and laboratory parameters. A comparison of the regional distribution patterns of measured and corrected He values are shown, and the influence of structural pattern and groundwater movements in the area is discussed. The application of the helium method in the investigation of the Eldingen area leads to postive results. The helium distribution pattern is recognizable at the surface around the hydrocarbon deposit. Information on the structural situation and hydrogeological conditions has tobe taken into account for interpretation. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1987 |
