A simple exponential atmosphere is used to derive the gravitational changes caused by the direct attraction of the local air pressure. This approach yields a Green function which can be used with surface air pressure readings near and including the observation point to correct gravity measuremens for the gravitational attraction of the atmosphere. This model predicts a lower local air pressure admittance than the standard value (-0.43 μGal/mbar) obtained assuming a plane parallel atmosphere. The curvature of the Earth and the scale height of the atmosphere reduce this admittance by about 7--8%. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1988
