|
Scanning electron microscope pictures of thin sections of North Sea chalk samples have been digitized and analyzed by multifractal statistics. It is demonstrated that such analysis can be useful for characterizing different geological chalk formations. In particular, it is observed that the shape of the multifractal spectrum of pore space could be related to permeability values measured from the corresponding core plugs. |
