A relation is developed between the high-degree behavior of the geopotential coefficients of anomaly degree variances and the local autocorrelation function of the gravity anomaly field. The derivation uses the asymptotic forms of both representations. The results can be used to deduce high-degree behavior from the short-wavelength spectral power density or from the autocorrelation function at short distances.
