Sadeh and Meidav <1973> interpret findings of sidereal periodicities in earthquake occurrences as being caused by the rise and set of an object in the stellar sky. A critical examination of their analysis casts doubts on the validity of their results. It is shown that if sidereal periodicities in earthquake occurrences are real, they are most likely associated with the well-known luni-solar tide K1 which has a period of exactly 1 sideral day. |
