The imaginary term of the complex refractive index of stratospheric aerosols from the 1963 eruption of Agung volcano in Bali, Indonesia, is estimated from theory to be 0.4¿K d-1, is deduced from the information on the complex refractive index of the aerosols and compared with conclusions from investigations by others. The method of analyzing the diffuse and direct radiation flux measurements is described.
