Maps of the total amount of water vapor carried by the winds across each segment of coastline in the northern hemisphere are presented for each season. This cross-coastal flux shows considerable variability over the hemisphere but tends to be largest in the tropics and during summer. The zonal net value of this flux is computed for each 10¿ belt of latitude. In the annual average, the zonal net value is landward in the tropics, but alternating belts of landward and oceanward zonal net flux exist in mid and high latitudes. |
