Morring motion is shown to contiminate current measurements by (1) redistributuion of energy in frequency, (2) wave number dependent attenuation, and (3) the linear superposition of mooring motion. Time dependent Doppler shifting redistributes spectral energy to higher and lower frequencies. Wave number attenuation is a function of the ratio of meter displacement to wave length. Neither type of contimination appears to be readily removable.
