The empirical formula proposed recently relating wind-stress coefficient to wind velocity, C10=(0.8+0.065 U10)¿10-3, appears to be applicable even in hurricanes. This formula also agrees with the correlation curve proposed earlier, C10=<&kgr;/ln(1/aC10F2)>2, F=U10/(gZ)1/2, where a=0.0185 is the Charnock constant and Z=10 m in the anemometer height. |
