A generic formula, Z/L=&kgr;CTC-3/2DRb, is derived in which Z/L is the Monin-Obukhov stability parameter, &kgr; is the von K¿rm¿n constant, CT and CD are the heat flux and drag coefficients, respectively, and Rb is the bulk Richardson number. Because CT and CD, and thus the ratio of Z/L and Rb, vary with wind speed and air-sea temperature difference, a table is constructed based on the most recent modeling of CT and CD for operational reference.
