Meteorological and aerosol measurements taken during the Western Mediterranean Circulation Experiment are described, and a 4-day period during the experiment is analyzed in detail. Aerosol measurements are found to correlate well with meteorological conditions during this time. The Navy Aerosol Model is used to derive meteorological range from surface meteorological data. A model called SATVIS is used to derive aerosol optical depth from satellite radiance data and to give a crude estimate of meteorological range. Comparisons with surface measurements show that both models performed reasonably well for this data set. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1990
