Wind-sheared gas absorption rate correlations have shown a break point at a certain turbulence intensity which signals a change to a higher mass transfer mode. This has been attributed to wave breaking and bubble entrainment. A similar break point is, however, observed with shear-free interfaces where there is no wave breaking and no bubble entrainment, which suggests that an alternative mechanism might play a role in the mode change. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1992 |
