This paper describes the mesonet sensor equipment installed by the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) for the Boreal Ecosystem-Atmosphere Study (BOREAS) project as well as the data collection methods and modifications made to overcome environment-related problems. The surface mesoscale atmospheric sciences mesonet for BOREAS is made up of 10 meteorological monitoring sites in western Canada designed to complement the two intensive sites for the BOREAS project. All stations monitored the atmosphere continuously from the start of the project in early 1994 to the end of the project in 1996. One site within the mesonet, the Saskatchewan Research Council's Climatological Reference Station, had over three decades of records. The BOREAS years of 1994 and 1995 had warmer air temperatures than normal; the year 1994 was 0.7 ¿C above the long-term annual average. ¿ 1997 American Geophysical Union |
