Measurements have been made of NOx(NO+NO2) at a site located in the Colorado mountains. These measurements revealed periods of exceptionally low NOx mixing ratios. During these episodes, the NOx mixing ratio dropped below 20 parts per trillion by volume for extended periods. These episodes are characterized by synoptic meterological conditions in which air transported to this site is isolated from contamination by ground-level sources of NOx.
