Previously unpublished measurements of methane concentrations in surface air (1963 to 1970) are reported. The values obtained, which ranged from 1.37 to 1.57 ppm by volume (moles), are consistent with current literature reports of 1.68 ppm in mid-1982 and an annual increase of just over 1%.
