Fabian, P., Borchers, R., Krüger, B.C. and Lal, S. (1985). The vertical distribution of CFC-114 (CC1F2-CC1F2) in the atmosphere. Journal of Geophysical Research 90: doi: 10.1029/JD090iD07p13091. issn: 0148-0227.

Vertical profiles of CFC-114 obtained by gas chromatographic analyses of stratospheric air samples collected during three balloon flights at Aire sur l'Adour, France (44¿N) are presented. Neon-cooled cryogenic samplers of Max-Planck-Institut f¿r Aeronomie were launched on September 20, 1982, September 10, 1983, and October 1, 1984. The average 1982--1984 midlatitude profile of CFC-114 obtained by averaging the results of these flights shows mixing ratios decreasing from 10.5 pptv at 10 km to 2.7 pptv at 35 km. Results obtained with a time-dependent 1-D model based on CFC-114 global emission rates evaluated by Wuebbles (1983) are in good agreement with our measured distribution when Wuebbles' data are scaled by a factor 1.16. The distribution calculated for steady state conditions shows a slower falloff with height in the stratosphere.
