Snow samples from southern New Mexico, west Texas, Antarctica, and Greenland were analyzed for aerosol and graphitic carbon. Graphitic carbon contents were found to be between 2.2 and 25 μg L-1 of snow meltwater; water-insoluble aerosol content varied between 0.62 and 8.5 mg L-1. For comparison, two samples of Camp Century, Greenland, ice core, having approximate ages of 4,000 and 6,000 years, were also analyzed. Ice core graphitic carbon contents were found to be 2.5 and 1.1 μg L-1. ¿American Geophysical Union 1987
