A simple and straightforward technique has been used on balloons to measure the conductivity of ions in the altitude region of 20 to 36 km from a low-latitude station. The sensor used was spherical in shape. Results of two such flights are discussed in this report. The values of conductivity of both positive and negative ions were found to be approximately equal and these were about (2--6)¿1012 mho m-1. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1989
