High delta(13)C values up to 11 parts per thousand(PDB) occur in Paleoproterozoic dolostones from the Aravalli Supergroup, western India. Correlation of high delta(13)C With high delta(18)O up to 23 parts per thousand(SMOW) in the Studied carbonates suggests that pre-metamorphic delta(13)C values were above 10 parts per thousand(PDB). The data are consistent with worldwide positive excursions in the delta(13)C of marine bicarbonate. The positive excursion was contemporaneous with sedimentation.
