A clear sky ocean angular directional model (ADM) using Earth Radiation Budget Satellite (ERBS) shortwave (SW) radiances was developed and compared with the ADM for clear sky ocean used in processing the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE) data. It differs from the ERBE operational ADM for clear sky ocean because the resolution of the angular bins which describe the anisotropy of the reflected shortwave radiation is higher. The largest errors occurred for small solar zenith angles and were as high as 67% when the satellite was in a position to measure the Sun's reflection from the surface. These errors are also related to findings that ERBE albedos for clear sky ocean reatin some dependence on the satellite-viewing geometry. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1993
