We have observed significant temporal variations in the local time dependence of geomagnetic induction vectors calculated at two-hour intervals for twelve days at four latitudinally-spaced stations near L=4. The present results and discussion call into some question the assumptions commonly made in the straightforward derivation and use of such induction vectors for defining internal conductivity structures.
