Wind motions in the 80--98-km altitude region above Resolute Bay, Nunavut, Canada (75 ¿N, 95 ¿W), are presented for a representative year. The measurements were made using an interferometric meteor radar during 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000. Results presented include a comprehensive study of monthly mean winds, using all of the available data from these 4 years, as well as running tidal studies and power spectra over the time frame 1998--1999 and studies of special persistent oscillations which appear from time to time. All studies are accompanied with a detailed consideration of the effects of the spectral windows used. A superposed epoch analysis is used to investigate a dominant 15-hour oscillation which appeared in November 1999, and evidence of period changes, associated with changes in resonance conditions, is demonstrated. Other periodic motions are also seen, especially at periods in the range 9--12 hours. ¿ 2001 American Geophysical Union |
