This paper investigates currently accepted methods of modeling the effect of meteor radiant distributions of meteors on the detection rate of meteor signals over forward-scatter links. A currently accepted radiant distribution is investigated, and an alternative radiant model is presented. The derivation of the currently accepted radiant distribution of meteors is also critically examined. Furthermore, an alternative, simpler method of including the effect of nonuniform geocentric radiant distributions of meteors on the detection rate of meteor signals over forward-scatter links is given. Other nonuniform distributions of meteors are also presented. ¿ American Geophysical Union 1993
