Newell, P. and Bird, T.S. (1994). Effects of mutual coupling in the design of high-performance multifeed satellite antennas. Radio Science 29: doi: 10.1029/93RS02503. issn: 0048-6604.

Predicted and measured results are presented for the effect of mutual coupling on the performance of shaped beam antennas having feed clusters that are irregular arrays of closely shaped small rectangular horn elements. The effects of mutual coupling on the primary and secondary patterns and on gain at specific points within beams are described for the Orion satellite antennas. Also shown is how excitation coefficients can be modified to overcome the changes in performance caused by mutual coupling.
