A numerical simulation of the anomalous cosmic ray (ACR) radiation belt, including production by electron stripping and decay by energy loss in a model atmosphere, predicts altitude and time variations over the last solar cycle. Satellite ACR data are used to estimate the unknown trapping cross sections. Energy loss to free electrons is significant for the high altitude trapped ACR which have not yet been observed. ¿ 2001 American Geophysical Union
