Meteorological analyses from synoptic to mesoscales are combined with wind and cloud observations from the new French-German airborne Doppler lidar WIND to analyse the dynamics of an upper-tropospheric jet-streak. The results show the impact of ageostrophic circulations on mesoscale structure as observed by the lidar. Lidar data also reveal fine scale heterogeneities (horizontal wind shear over <40 km) at the edge of the jet streak associated to a structural modification of cirrus clouds. |
