|
Ultraviolet absorption bands of sulfur dioxide have been detected in the reflection spectrum of Venus using the high resolution spectrometer of the Internation Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE). The identification of these bands in the 2080 to 2180 A range has been verified by comparision with laboratory absorption spectra. An estimate of the SO2 vertical column density using a reflecting layer model is 4¿1016 cm-2. |
