We demonstrate the ease in construction and the utility of detectors sensitive to particular micropulsation characteristics. The detector algorithms are simple and hence they consume little computer time. Yet they are sophisticated enough to sense unique pulsation states. Detection of HD plane polarization is shown as an especially simple case. As an example of the wider utility of these detectors we have followed the movement of a resonant region across a single ground based magnetic station during a large amplitude Pc5 event. The clarity of the results points toward a more complete use of Pc micropulsations as magnetospheric diagnostics. |
