Singh, N. and Thiemann, H. (1980). Some features of inverted-V events as seen from simulated double layers. Geophysical Research Letters 7: doi: 10.1029/GL007i010p00737. issn: 0094-8276.

Results from a numerical simulation of a double layer show some important features of electron fluxes during auroral events; strong heating of the thermal and precipitating electrons is seen. Extremely low frequency fluctuations observed during inverted-V events are also seen in the simulation. Fluctuation are caused by a relaxation type of oscillation involving the plasma and the instabilities through the formation of cavitons.
