From measurements of two rocket flights and from laboratory investigations auroral EUV emissions are identified. Contrary to the airglow, emissions from ionized nitrogen are present in the auroral emission spectral below 80 nm. On 22 January and 8 February, 1977, two auroral EUV spectrometers were flown over Andoya/Norway within the German rocket program ''Polar High Atmosphere'' (THIELE, 1979). The horizontally viewing instruments are described in detail elsewhere (FISCHER et al., 1980). Preliminary results from the two successful rocket launches and a short description of the experiment are published (FISCHER and SCHMIDTKE, 1979). Here, results from the rocket flights and from laboratory measurements are reported concerning the identication of auroral emissions between 50--135 mn. Though this spectral region was investigated several times (GENTIEU et al., 1975; PARK et al., 1975; PARK et al., 1977; CHRISTENSEN, 1977), no identified auroral EUV emissions below 80 nm are not reported, so far.
