A new report from the National Research Council of the National Academies recommends the creation and maintenance of a coordinated, comprehensive, and balanced national water resources research agenda, and also calls for regularly assessing federal agencies research activities as the best way for the U.S. to deal with likely water crises in the twenty-first century. The report, Confronting the Nation's Water Problemsc The Role of Research, was released 17 June.
