The 2006 fiscal year budget request from NASA ceases funding of a number of ongoing missions in solar and space physics, the termination of which could severely harm advances in understanding of the solar-terrestrial environment, and thus of space weather. Terminating the solar-terrestrial and heliosphere missions is a misguided budgetary and research priority and should be reversed before severe damage is done to the nation's space science and applications program. |
