Recently revised estimates for the photochemical loss rates of tropospheric OCS indicate that ocean hydrolysis may be the most important sink. A simple air→sea thin film transfer model, coupled with water hydrolysis indicates that the lifetime of tropospheric OSC with respect to this flux has a lower-limit of 11 years, which yields a net lifetime for tropospheric OCS of 4-7 years.
