A SAR arc has been observed at &lgr;=630 nm with global auroral imaging instrumentation on board the spacecraft Dynamics Explorer 1. The arc is first detected at about 1908 UT on October 20, 1981 and is then observed in four subsequent, consecutive orbits spanning 28 hours.
