The thermal tidal oscillation was simulated together with tropical cyclones in an atmospheric general circulation model capable of realistically representing mesoscale phenomena with very high resolution. These two systems differ from each other considerably in both scale and dynamical behavior. Analyzing the numerical data produced by the model, we investigated the regional influence of tropical cyclones on the tidal oscillation, and the effect of the latter on tropical cyclones. It was observed that the tidal oscillation of the surface pressure is not locally disturbed by passing tropical cyclones. It was also revealed that the signal of the tidal oscillation is detectable in the time variations of minimum sea-level pressure, wind field and rainfall intensity in the central areas of tropical cyclones.
