The Etesians (the Greek meaning is: annually recurrent) are North-South direction winds which flow over the Aegean Sea every year from May to October with impressive intensity and directional stability. They have been reported by several ancient Greek writers since the 6th century B.C. while they have been described in detail by Aristotle (Lee, 1962).
