Thomas, J.M., Gonzalez-Calbert, J.M., Fyfe, C.A., Gobbi, G.C. and Nicol, M. (1983). Identifying the coordination of silicon by magic-angle-spinning NMR: Stishovite and quartz. Geophysical Research Letters 10: doi: 10.1029/GL010i001p00091. issn: 0094-8276.

Six-coordinated Si in stishovite yields a sharp 29Si MASNMR signal at -191.3¿0.2 ppm from TMS, well-removed from the characteristic signal associated with tetrahedral coordination in quartz, cristobalite, and other, less crystalline siliceous solids.
