In a network, the atmospheric turbidity over Africa is observed for two years. The most recent data from a central Sahara station show increased values but horizontal visibility remained unchanged. This large turbidity seems to be produced not only regionally, rather the temporal development points toward the eruption of El Chichon in Mexico.
