Muller, C., Vercheval, J., Ackerman, M., Lippens, C., Laurent, J., Lemaitre, M.P., Besson, J. and Girard, A. (1985). Observations of middle atmospheric CH4 and N2O vertical distributions by the spacelab 1 grille spectrometer. Geophysical Research Letters 12: doi: 10.1029/GL012i010p00667. issn: 0094-8276.

Methane and nitrous oxide have been observed by limb absorption spectrometry using the Spacelab One grille spectrometer. The CH4 &ngr;3 band is observed with a 0.1 cm-1 resolution up to 80 km while N2O can be seen up to 52 km in strong lines of its &ngr;3 band. The values are compared, where possible, with previous observations and are in agreement with rocket determinations.
