The European Space Agency has made imagery from its Earth observation satellite Envisat freely available to the public through a new Web site (http://www.esa.int/miravi). The site, MIRAVI, which is short for MERIS (Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) Images Rapid Visualization, generates images from the data collected by the MERIS optical instrument. The images then are placed on the site within two hours of acquisition. Images archived through May 2006 also are available and searchable by date. |
