We use new data obtained by the Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) onboard of Aura spacecraft to investigate variations in stratospheric ozone and temperature concurrent with the 27-day variations of solar UV irradiance, measured simultaneously by the Solar Radiation and Climate Experiment (SORCE) during the declining phase of solar activity. Using Empirical Mode Decomposition we determine the latitudinal and height distributions of the 27-day modes for ozone and temperature and find that these modes are enhanced in the lower tropical stratosphere, and at high latitudes in winter.
