NASA launched on 22 March a constellation of three micro-satellites to measure the Earth's magnetic field. The 90-day Space Technology 5 (ST5) mission is testing technology to study the effect of the Sun on the Earth's magnetosphere-the magnetic field that surrounds the planet and protects it from space radiation-and testing NASA's ability to operate and coordinate a constellation of micro-satellites. |
